The focus of the book, is Morris’ lecture, “Art Under Plutocracy” and Richard Marsden, a Manchester, England industrialist, unfavorable review published in The Textile Manufacturer. The letter is Morris’ response to Marsden’s review of the lecture. Full leather binding with laced-in boards. Bound in yellow goatskin with inlays and onlays of metal and leather. Edge to edge yellow leather doublures Metal wrapped leather endbands and natural edges. The juxtaposition of metal with the more traditional leather speaks to the inherent tension between art and capital, craft and industry, and the opposing views of people. Bound in 2022. |
